Melonmania is a video game in the action genre and published by Interceptor Software originally released in 1986. It is currently playable on Commodore 64.
Melonmania is a side view horizontal scrolling game in which the screen scrolls left or right as you move your hero, Mr. Megafat, famous melon grower and TV personality. It's the night of Midsummer's Eve and, like every year, just when his melons have ripened. Melon monsters appear to steal them from several plots scattered around the area. You must run around the area collecting 30 melons, one at a time, to place them in your barrel outside your inventor's hut before the night is over. In addition to moving left or right, arrows appear on the ground that point up or down and allow you to move to another part of the area. As you run around the area you will encounter monsters, which must be shot, as you cannot jump on them, and if you touch one, your energy meter decreases. If you don't touch a monster, the meter increases, but when it empties you lose one of the four lives. You can shoot forward and diagonally up or down. If the moon in the night sky reaches the right of the screen from the left, the night is over and the game ends.
