The Sydney Affair

The Sydney Affair is a video game in the adventure genre developed by Infogrames Multimedia SA and published by Infogrames Multimedia SA originally released in 1987. It is currently playable on DOS, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64.

Promoted to the rank of sergeant major of the Saint-Etienne (Loire) Investigation Brigade, you have already proved your worth in L'affaire Vera Cruz (The Vera Cruz Affair). Your bosses place all their hopes in your abilities and entrust you with a new case, L'affaire Sydney (The Sydney Affair).

Mr. James Sydney has just been shot in the head. The murderer, who shot from the building across the street, must have known the victim's habits, because he spent the whole day in the same place. . . So you go with your team to the crime scene to collect clues and follow possible traces.

The game, like its predecessor, is divided into two parts: investigating the crime scene to collect evidence and working with the telex machine to get information about possible suspects.

The crime scene now includes two screens (the street with Sydney's body and the killer's apartment). You must collect as much evidence as possible by moving the marker on the screen and examining the objects scattered in the scenes, as well as the body itself.

With the telex machine you must carry out the investigation according to police procedures. Here different actions are possible such as sending messages within the Diamond Network to receive replies, printing notes, contacting other Police services to obtain new information, comparing evidence, carrying out examinations such as autopsy, interviewing/checking the alibis of the suspects, and finally arresting. To specify the subject of each action you must write it down.
